Judging by the structure of the substance of some meteorites, not all of them are fragments of asteroids or comets. At least eight fragments of lunar matter were found in Antarctica (near the South Pole).
One of them weighs about 800 grams. These stones are almost identical to those that were brought from the lunar expedition by Apollo astronauts.
How did the stones found in Antarctica appear on Earth?
Scientists believe that these meteorites formed during the collision of the moon with a large meteorite. As a result of the collision, large fragments scattered in different directions at such a high speed that they managed to overcome the force of lunar gravity (however, it is not very great) and fly into outer space.
But there they fell into an unforgiving embrace of the Earth's gravity, on which they finally landed safely.
It's hard to believe, but some meteorites that fell to Earth are fragments of Mars (another planet!). So, perhaps, somewhere on Mars or on Venus are fragments of our home planet, as a memory of a distant time when the Earth collided with a huge meteorite and sent a distress signal to its neighbors.
